Take Action: Advocate for a New Date for New Jersey’s 2025 Primary to Ensure Everyone Can Vote

New Jersey’s 2025 primary falls on June 3, coinciding with the holiday of Shavuot – preventing Jews from being able to vote on election day. If this date isn’t moved, the Jewish community will be disenfranchised from this election.

Take action by writing to your representatives, imploring them to fight to change the date of the election.

This work is made possible thanks to advocacy efforts in partnership with the Jewish Federations of New Jersey.

Subject:RE: Urge NJ Lawmakers to Protect Voting Rights by Rescheduling the 2025 Primary

Dear Recipient's Title and Name:

As a member of the Jewish community in your district, I am writing to you about an urgent issue which is preventing many of your constituents from participating in the upcoming primary.

As you may have seen, the 2025 New Jersey primary falls out on June 3, which is the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. On a religious observance day, Jewish voters will be unable to cast their votes. If this date isn’t moved, the Jewish community will be disenfranchised from this election.

I implore you to speak to your leadership and take the action needed to change the date of this election to ensure ALL New Jersey residents, regardless of their religion, can exercise their right to vote and participate in the upcoming primary.

Thank you,

Sincerely,
