Critical Funds for Jewish Day Schools - 2024

Our legislators are now working to complete a state budget and we must make sure the needs of our Jewish Day Schools and communities are considered. Every voice is needed to keep our schools and synagogues safe, maintain scholarship programs like EITC and OSTC, and introduce a STEM education program that can help students succeed.

Subject:RE: Please Consider ALL Schools - Including Jewish Day Schools

Dear Recipient's Title and Name:

As the June budget deadline approaches, I am writing to ask for your consideration on three issues that are important to me.

Jewish Pennsylvanians feel increasingly threatened, with hate-based incidents on the rise. We ask our lawmakers to partner with us to keep children safe at school and families safe in communities. Please ensure Safe Schools targeted grant programs are funded to meet the growing needs of schools, and please increase the Nonprofit Security Grant fund to $10 million. This program has not been increased since its creation, despite severe proliferation of antisemitism.

We ask that you consider the success and great impact of the EITC and OSTC scholarship programs which allow low- and middle-income students to attend schools that best fit their needs. Please keep the programs strong and consistent, so they may meet the needs of schools and families.

Lastly, please support the new bipartisan STEM Education Partnership Program sponsored by Senator Ryan Aument and Representative Danilo Burgos. With this proposed program, public school teachers have an opportunity to earn additional compensation, doing what they do best: teaching important STEM subjects to the next generation of Pennsylvanians. This program addresses a statewide teacher shortage, and the program would provide greater access to STEM education, which is critical for Pennsylvania's future workforce. (Learn more about the program here.)

I hope you will consider these important issues and I thank you for your dedication to Pennsylvania's students and teachers.

Sincerely,
Your Full Name
